Disable Application Notification on the Lock Screen in Windows 8

Introduction

In this article we are explaining how to disable Lock Screen Application Notification for all Users in Windows 8. This article prevent the user from changing the Lock Screen image in Windows 8. The Windows 8 Lock Screen allows users to view application notification for various applications such as Messages, Calendar etc other than the clock, clock time and battery icons.

Windows 8 provides the option Turn Off Application Notification on the Lock Screen. The Lock Screen shows notifications reminding you to check new events such as a new message or reminder in your calendar.

If you want to disable the Lock Screen notification for all users, you can use the Local Group Policy Editor. If you click on the "Enabled" Button in the "Turn Off Application Notification on the Lock Screen" window then no application notifications are displayed on the Lock Screen.

Steps How to Turn Off Application Notification on the Lock Screen

Step 1

Move the cursor on the right-bottom and select the search box and enter into the search box what you want.

Step 2

In the search box you enter the gpedit.msc under the application tab and click on the window that is shown.

Step 3

In the window that is shown, you will see the "Local Group Policy Editor" window.

Step 4

In this step I want to Disable Lock Screen Application Notification for all Users in Windows 8. Click on the Computer Configuration sub-category Administrative Templates sub-category System sub-category Logon and click on the "Turn Off Application Notification on the Lock Screen".

In this step right-click on the "Turn Off Application Notification on the Lock Screen" and select the edit tab and click on the edit tab.

Step 6

In this step, if you click the "Enabled" Button then no application notifications are displayed on the Lock Screen and click on "Apply" or "OK" Button. If you click on "disabled" or "not configured" for this policy setting then users can choose which apps display notifications on the lock screen and click on the "Apply" or "OK" Button.
