Enable Start Menu Background in Windows 8

In this article we are explaining how to enable the Start menu background in Windows 8. By default the user can change the Start menu background image such as its color. If this setting is disabled by the user and if you want to enable it then you click on the "Disable" Button for enabling the Start screen background under the "prevent changing Start menu background" Window.

Windows 8 provides the option for enabling the Start screen background. If you want to enable the ability to change the Start Screen background then you can open the Local Group Policy Editor. You can type gpedit.msc in the search box and click on it and follow the steps. These are given below.

How to Enable the Start Menu Background in Windows 8

Step 1

Move the cursor on the bottom-right and select the search box and enter into the search box what you want.

In the search box you enter the gpedit.msc under the application tab and click on the window that is shown.

Step 3

In the window that is shown, you will see the "Local Group Policy Editor" window.

Step 4

In this step, click on the Computer Configuration sub-category Administrative Template sub-category Control Panel sub-category Personalization and click on the "Prevent Changing Start Menu Background".

Step 5

In this step right-click on the "Prevent Changing Start Menu Background" and select the edit tab and click on the edit tab.

Step 6

In this step, if we want to enable it then we click on the "Disabled" or "Not Configured" then you can change the Start Menu background such as its color and click on the OK or Apply Button.
