In Windows 8 Consumer Preview, you can start in Safe Mode but the process of activating the Safe Mode is different. Safe Mode is a diagnostic mode which loads a set of drivers and processes sufficient to run Windows. If an existing problem does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes. Steps to start Safe Mode in Windows 8.
Step 1 : Click on Start and open the Metro apps screen; now click on search as shown below.
Step 2 : You move the mouse to the bottom-right and type "advanced startup" in the search box under the settings tab highlighted; now click and open the advanced startup option.
Step 3 : Click on RESTART Button NOW, under the advanced startup.
Step 4 : After clicking on the Restart Button, choose troubleshoot option.
Step 5 : Click on the advanced option.
Step 6 : Click on the Windows startup settings.
Step 7 : After the clicking on the Windows Startup Settings the Windows startup settings displays a list of options. Here click on RESTART to access safe mode option.
Step 8 : Wait for few seconds then you select, Safe Mode by using Up and Down arrow keys and hit enter, your PC will restart in Safe Mode.
Safe Mode Within Windows 8
You have another option for starting Windows 8 in Safe Mode. You move the mouse to the left bottom corner; from the mouse right-click, select Run or press the Win + R key combination and type msconfig in the run box and hit center.
Switch over to the boot tab, and click on the Safe Boot check box. You can also choose the type of Safe Mode you want to boot into.
- Minimal is normal safe mode.
- Alternate Shell is safe mode with command prompt
- Network is safe mode with networking.
Click on the Restart Button to restart your machine.
You PC will be booted into Safe Mode automatically.
If you want System UnSafe Mode, you can open the Run and type the msnconfig and uncheck the Safe boot option, then hit the ok button.
Finally restart your machine.
Finally your System will go on UnSafe Mode.
