Introduction
In this article we are describing how to prevent users from changing the Start Menu background in Windows 8. By default the user can change the Start Menu background images such as its color or accent. If you have "Enabled" this setting then the user cannot change the Start Menu background such as its color. If you set it to "Disabled" or "Not Configured" then the user can change the Start Screen background in Windows 8.
Windows 8 provides the option "Prevent Changing the Start Menu background". If you want to disable the ability to change the Start Screen background then you can open the Local Group Policy Editor. You can type the gpedit.msc in the search box and click on it and follow the steps. These are given below.
Steps How to Prevent Changing the Start Menu background
Step 1
Move the cursor on the right-bottom and select the search box and enter into the search box what you want.
Step 2
In the search box you enter the gpedit.msc under the application tab and click on the window that is shown.
Step 3
In the window that is shown, you will see the "Local Group Policy Editor" window.
Step 4
In this step I want to prevent changing the Start Menu background. Click on the Computer Configuration sub-category Administrative Template sub-category Control Panel sub-category Personalization and click on the "Prevent Changing Start Menu Background".

In this step right-click on the "Prevent Changing Start Menu Background" and select the edit tab and click on the edit tab.
Step 6
In this step, if you click on the "Enabled" Button then you cannot change the Start Menu background. If you click on the "Disabled" or "Not Configured" then you can change the Start Menu background such as its color. You click on the "Enabled" Button for disabling the changing the Start Menu background and click on the "Apply" or "OK" Button.
