Introduction

In this article I will explain how to switch between Application or Snaps Application in Windows 8. If You are using a Metro UI and Desktop, then you are running multiple applications. A Metro application is very simple on the touch screen. You can swipe your finger in the left side or right side in the touch screen. When the mouse moves to the left side of the screen, you see the thumbnail of the next application. You have a mouse scroll wheel; you can use the scroll wheel to scroll through your open Metro applications.

You can also use the Windows Key and Tab together to switch between applications. Every time you press the key combination to switch to the next application. Alt-Tab gives you a Metro style dialog. With the help of the hot Windows Key, you can easily use the Windows 8 application. Move your cursor to the top edge of the application you would like to snap, and drag it to the side boards, either left or right. The Metro snap however does not work on a lower resolution.

The Snapped state is one of the three possible application layouts:

Query the application current layout
Register for layout change events
Programmatically unsnap

You are using a Metro UI or Desktop for running multiple applications. For example you may be in the Windows Store and watching a video. You may be running Microsoft Visual Studio Express 11 for Windows 8 Metro Apps.

Switch between applications

You can switch from one application to another application by moving the cursor. To open the Switch List, you can use the Windows Key + Tab. The Switch List is the best part of the Windows 8. It is an advance version of ALT + TAB in previous versions and WIN + TAB in Windows 7. It shows the running applications by default. It can also be used to quit the running application in Windows 8. You can easily access the Switch List by using the WIN + TAB Key, which will open all running apps on the left side of the screen.

Close an Application

You may close the application by right-clicking the mouse button, then close it.

Snap an Application

You can Snap an application to the left side or right side on the screen by clicing on the Snap right or Snap left.

How to enable Windows 8 snap Application

To enable the Windows 8 using the registry, Win + R to open the run dialog box and enter the regedit and click ok.

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\AppPositioner. Open AlwaysEnableLSSnapping Key and change the value from 0 to 1.

If the value does not exit, then right-click on ImmersiveShell, create a new Key named AppPositioner followed by a AlwaysEnableLSSnapping DWORD value and then set its value to 1.

You can also use Windows 8 Snap Enabler application to set these values automatically. Launch the portable Windows 8 Snap Enabler application and click Enable Windows 8 Snap feature. Windows 8 Metro application snapping with other applications and the Desktop the low resolution systems. If done, Log off and Log back in to start Windows 8 Snap features.
