Adding a network location is a feature of Windows 8 that allows you to sign up for services that offer online storage space. You can also use this space to store, organize and share your documents and pictures using only a web browser internet connection.
You can also use add a network location feature to create a shortcut to a website, a FTP site, on another network location.
How to add a network location in Windows 8
Step 1
Open "My Computer" and click on "Add a network location" on the "Computer" tab.
Step 2
An "Add a network location" window will be shown; in this window click on "Next".
Step 3
In this step, select your network location where you want to create this location and then click on "Next".
Step 4
In this step click on "Browse" and select the network folder to which you want to publish your file and then click on "OK".
Step 5
After selecting the network folder click on "Next" to continue.
Step 6
Now click on "Finish" to complete you process.
Step 7
Now go to "My Computer"; you will see a network location.
