How to Create Dial-up Connection in Windows 8

Introduction

In this article we are going to explain how to create a dial-up connection in Windows 8. A dial-up connection is a way to connect a computer with another device using a standard telephone line service. This type of connection is commonly used as a way for a personal computer to connect with the Internet in locations where high-speed Internet access is not available but Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) service is available.

The purpose of this article is to show creation of a dial-up networking connection that uses your modem or Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) adapter to connect your computer for internet access.

How to create a dial-up connection in Windows 8

Step 1

Open the Control Panel and click on "Network and sharing center".

Step 2

A new window will be appear; in this window click on "Set up a new connection or network".

Step 3

A set up connection window will be appear; click on "Connect to the network" and then "Next".

Step 4

In this step click on "Dial-Up" to create a dial-up connection.

Step 5

In this step enter the user name, password and dial-up phone number and dial-up name and click on "Create". If the modem device is connected with your computer the "Connect" option will be shown instead of "Create".

Step 6

If your modem is attached to your computer then it will take a few minutes to make the connection. When connected you will get a window that the connection to the internet is ready to be used. Now you are ready to use the dial-up connection.
