How to change the Windows Update setting in Windows 8
Step 1
Go to the search box and type "control panel" and click on the Control Panel icon in the results window.
Step 2
In Control Panel window click on "Windows Update".
Step 3
In the Windows Update window click on "Change setting".
Step 4
In the change settings window select "Never check for updates" from Important Updates. And click on "OK".
Step 5
If you want the Windows Update message to not be displayed in the Action Center then go to Control Panel and click on "Action Center".
Step 6
In the Action Center window click on "Change Action center setting".
Step 7
Now uncheck "Windows Update" and click on "OK" then exit from Control Panel.
