Show Hidden Files and Folders in Windows 8

Introduction

In this article we explain how to show hidden files and folders in Windows 8. In Windows 8 many files and folder are hidden and here we provide the procedure to show hidden files.

Procedure for showing Hidden Files and Folders

Step 1

First we must move to the Windows 8 Desktop and then press the "Win + W" shortcut key on our Desktop and bring up the "Settings" Search field and type "folder options".

Step 2

After that select the "Folder Option" on the screen.

Then open the "Control Panel" on your Desktop.

Then click "Folder Options".

Step 5

When the folder options window opens click the "View" tab, select "Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives" and click "OK".

Step 6

Now we'll see the hidden files and folders in Windows 8. To verify it worked, press "Win + R" and type: "%userprofile%" and hit Enter.

Step 7

There we should see the AppData folder that's hidden by default. We can tell which folders were hidden by the faded look of the icons.
