Disable Start Menu background in Windows 8
In this article we are describing how to disable the Start Menu background in Windows 8. By default the user can change the Start Menu background images such as its color or accent. If you set this setting to "Disable" or "Not Configured" then the user can change the Start Menu background such as its color.
Windows 8 provides the option "Prevent Changing the Start Menu background". If you want to disable the ability to change the Start Screen background then you can open the Local Group Policy Editor. You can type the gpedit.msc in the search box and click on it and follow the steps. These are given below.
Prevent Changing the Start Menu background
Step 1
Move the cursor on the bottom-right and select the search box or use Win+ c and enter text into the search box that you want to search.
Step 2
In the search box you enter the gpedit.msc under the application tab and click on the window that is shown.

In the window that is shown, you will see the "Local Group Policy Editor" window.
Step 4
In this step I want to prevent changing the Start Menu background. Click on the Computer Configuration sub-category Administrative Template sub-category Control Panel sub-category Personalization and click on the "Prevent Changing Start Menu Background".

In this step right-click on the "Prevent Changing Start Menu Background" and select the edit tab and click on the edit tab.
Step 6
In this step, if you click on the "Disable" or "Not Configured" Button then you can change the Start Menu background. Click on the "Disable" Button to disable changing the Start Menu background and click on the "Apply" or "OK" Button.
