Enable Console Lock Display Off Timeout in Windows 8

Introduction

Windows 8 provides many more features that make Windows 8 more attractive and easier to use than earlier versions of the Windows operating system. One of the additional new apps and extra features enable setting "Console lock display off timeout" in the Windows 8 Power Options. After your computer has been locked for 1 minute and the lock screen is visible we may find that the monitor will turn off after 1 minute. This is because By default a Windows 8 computer when locked will turn off the display after 1 minute.

So we can change this setting with the help of the Registry Editor. So in this article we will learn how to set "Console lock display off timeout" in the Windows 8 Power Options.

How to Enable "Console lock display off timeout" in Windows 8

Step 1

First of all we have to move to the Start screen window of Windows 8.

Step 2

Then move the cursor on the bottom-right of the window screen and click the search box which is helpful to search in Windows 8.

Step 3

Then in the search box type "regedit" and click on the Apps from the right sidebar then click regedit in the main window.

Step 4

Then you will see a new window named "User Account Control" Window. Just click on the "Yes" button.

The second way is just hit "Windows logo key + R" on your keypad and just type "regedit" and click on the "OK" button.

Step 5

Then a new window will be shown on your screen labeled "Registry Editor" as shown in the following image.

Step 6

Now just use the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ Power\ PowerSettings\ 7516b95f-f776-4464-8c53-06167f40cc99\ 8EC4B3A5-6868-48c2-BE75-4F3044BE88A7

Step 7

Now open "Power Options" > "Advanced Power Settings" via the Control Panel. Then expand the Display item. We will now see an additional entry: "Console lock display off timeout".

Now just double-click on the values and change the settings from 1 Minute to what you wish.

NOTE - Setting "Console lock display off timeout" to 0 will never turn off the display.
