How to Disable Explorer Ribbon in Windows 8

Introduction

It is well known that the Explorer ribbon is a perfect tool and offers many shortcuts to access the file system. Mainly this Explorer ribbon includes three tabs, depending upon the level of file system. Each of these perform a specific task. The basic tabs we usually encounter are:

• Home

• Share

• View

The main functionality of these tabs are as follows:

Home: This tab includes copy, paste, paste shortcut, move to, copy to, delete, rename, history, invert selection, select none, select all and properties shortcut options.

Share: This tab includes email, zip, burn to, print, fax and stop sharing options.

View: By this tab we can change the size, unhide files, and change the pane of view.

Now depending on use, some users will like this new inclusion and some of users won't like it because they want to use the old one. So in this article we shall learn how to disable or hide the Windows 8 Explorer ribbon.

How To Disable the Explorer Ribbon

Step 1

First of all we have to move to the Start screen window of Windows 8. 

Step 2

Then move the cursor on the bottom-right of the window screen and click the search box which is helpful to search in Windows 8.

Step 3

Then in the search box type "desktop" and click on Apps from the right sidebar then click Desktop in the main window.

Step 4

Then right-click on the Desktop icon and select open from the list as shown in the following image:

Now open your windows file explorer window and towards the right you will find a small upward facing arrow as highlighted in the following image:

By clicking this arrow, the Explorer ribbon will be hidden or disabled as shown in the following image:

Now if again when clicking on this Explorer ribbon it will again be enabled as shown in the following image:
