Accessing Apps From Desktop in Windows 8

As we all know Windows 8 has the new feature of a Start Screen that contains all the applications including our Metro Style apps. You can open any Metro style app or other apps from the Metro Start Screen.

But, sometimes it is time consuming to launch an app because the user has to switch to the Start Screen from the Desktop to open an app. There is not an easy way to access an app directly from the Desktop. It feels goods if we can access all the Metro apps from the Windows Explorer also.

In this article we are going to see how to launch your Metro application from the Windows Explorer or Desktop.

Steps to be followed:

Step 1: First you need to create a shortcut on the Desktop. Right-click on the Desktop.

Step 2: Choose New -> Shortcut.

Step 3: It will ask you to enter the location name. Copy the following code into the textbox:

Step 4: After enterimg the location name, click on the next button to continue the process:

Step 5: Then, type a name for this shortcut in the given textbox:

Step 6: Click on the Finish Button to create a shortcut:

Step 7: This will create a shortcut with all the apps on the Desktop:

Step 8: Open the shortcut. Now you can open any app from here; you will see it contains all the Metro applications in one place:
