Checking For New Updates in Windows 8

Windows 8 comes with new and updated features including the new Metro UI. In this article I will discuss one of the new features of Windows 8; how to update your Windows 8 System manually using the Built-In updater feature.

Windows 8 has the ability to check for any new updates. By default this will be done once per day. But, besides this default nature we are also able to update the Windows 8 manually by checking for available updates and easily install new updates.

So, now I will show you the procedure needed to check for new updates for Windows 8 and install them.

Note: You need to be connected to the internet to check for updates.

Here are steps.

Step 1

Hover the mouse over the bottom-right corner of the screen to bring up the Charms menu. Select the "Setting" option from it.

Step 2

In this Settings menu select the "Change PC settings" option.

Step 3

Select "Windows Update" from the left panel.

Step 4

Then, press the "Check for updates now" button from the right panel.

Step 5

This will connect to Microsoft's online update center to check for any updates available that you don't have yet.

Press "Install". This will download new updates and install it 
automatically.

The updates will download, and then install automatically.

Step 6

Once Windows 8 has finished installing the updates, all it takes is a quick restart for them to take effect.

Step 7

Now, this will install new updates upon restart of Windows 8.
