Clear the Application Notification Cache in Windows 8

Windows includes great new functionality and the best is Notification in Windows Store apps. Windows 8 always by default shows you all the notifications even when you log off.

But sometimes you may want to not get your application notifications getting stuck from time to time. So, in this article I will try to fix this problem and release you from getting notification time to time. To do this here I use Local Group Editor Policy to enable the clearing of the notification cache at log off.

Here is the procedure to do this.

Step 1

Open the Run prompt by pressing the Win+R key and type gpedit.msc and hit enter.

Step 2

It will open the Local Group Editor Policy Window. Now you need to drill down from the left side pane.

Step 3

On the right pane you will see a setting called "Clear history of tile notifications on exit", double-click on it.

Step 4

By default the Not Configured radio button is selected. Now switch the radio button from "Not Configured" to "Enabled", then click on the OK button.

 Step 5

For the updated policy to take effect on your PC, you need to do it forcibly by pressing the Windows + R key combination, when the run box opens run:

Now every time you log, off your notification cache will be cleared.
