Turn On or Off Windows Firewall in Windows 8

In this article I will show you how to turn on or off the Windows firewall in Windows 8. The firewall is similar to Windows 7 which protects the user.

But setting the Windows Firewall in Windows 8 is a little different because of changes in the UI of Windows 8. However, the Windows Firewall as usual is in the Control Panel in Windows 8.

To open the Control Panel we have many options in Windows 8. Here is one of the common way to open the Control Panel and Windows Firewall Settings in Windows 8.

Here is the procedure to turn on or off the Windows Firewall in Window 8.

Step 1

Go to the Start Screen, if you are on the Desktop screen by pressing the Win Key of Start button.

Step 2

Moving the mouse pointer to the lower right bottom corner of the screen. A charm is opened. Click on the Search option.

Step 3

Type the Control Panel in the search box:

Click on the Control Panel from the left panel on the screen.

Step 5

Click on the "System and Security" option from it.

Now, click on the Windows Firewall option from the right side.

Click on the Turn Windows Firewall on or off from the left side panel.

Step 8

Now, select the radio button for both Private or Public network settings to Turn on or off the Windows Firewall according to the need.

Now click the "OK" button to turn on or off the firewall in Windows 8.
