How to Work With Two Apps Simultaneously in Windows 8

Introduction

In this article I will tell you how to open and run two apps at the same time and on the same Desktop without minimizing or closing the other in Windows 8.

Procedure to open and run two apps at the same time without closing the other in Windows 8

Step 1

There is a very interesting and advanced feature in Windows 8; it allows you to open and run two apps at the same time on the same Desktop. In all previous versions of Windows if you had opened two apps then first you had to minimize or close the first app and then you were able to access the second one, but in Window 8 you can access both of them at the same time without closing or minimizing the other. Like you can see here I had opened c-sharpcorner.com but you didn't know that I had also opened msn.com.

Step 2

Now you had to move your mouse toward the upper left hand corner of your screen and you will find a small tile of your second app that you had already opened. As you can see in the picture given below that there is a small tile on the left hand corner as I move my cursor towards the left upper hand corner. For your convenience I had specified that in the red rectangle.

Step 3

Now there are two ways to open this app on the same screen; they are:

  1. You can right-click on this small tile and you will get the options to open it either on the left hand side of the screen or on the right hand of the screen.
  2. Simply drag this small tile to the left side of the screen or on the right side of the screen, you will see that a particular space is provided for your app. Simply drop your app on that space and you will see that both the apps are opened side by side like in the picture given below:

Now you are able to see that two apps are running at the same time and on the same screen. Some of you will still think that when we click on the left app or the right app then the other one will leave the screen. For those readers I also show Picture 4 in which you can see that I had clicked the news section of msn.com and it had opened the on the same side without affecting the other app.
