1. Maps

Apple is now using their own mapping technology that provides some incredible advantages. I mean Apple has ditched Google provided maps in iOS 6 and has introduced its own maps. It show 3D maps, real-time traffic information and more.
One of the interesting features of this app is that you can see selected major metro areas from the air with photo-realistic, interactive 3D views.

iOS finally has turn-by-turn navigation. Its rivals have had this feature for some time, but now you do, too, on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Turn-by-turn navigation offers you a voice-guided satellite navigation system inside your iOS Device.

2. Passbook

Using this app you will manage all the passes or loyalty cards; Apple's new Passbook has come to your rescue. With Passbook, you can store your boarding passes, movie tickets, retail coupons, loyalty cards, and more in one place. Using this app, you will be able to scan your iPhone or iPod touch to check in for a flight, get into a movie, and redeem a coupon. Apart from all this, Passbook will tell you when your coupons are expiring or balance left on your cards.

Once these things are entered into Passbook, they become intelligent and interactive. For instance, your Starbucks card will tell you your remaining balance, your store card will present you with the latest offers, and your boarding pass will instantly update and provide you with a notification when there are changes to your flight.

3. Siri

Until now, Siri has only been available on the iPhone 4S, but with iOS 6, you'll also find it on the iPhone 5, the new iPad, and the fifth-generation iPod touch. It's even more intelligent, too. For sports it can find sports scores, schedules, teamsheets and stats. it can also search restaurants and then book tables and can find local movie showtimes and the latest reviews. With iOS 6, Siri understands more languages and can provide answers to your movie, sports and restaurants related queries as well. It can also now post to your Facebook and Twitter accounts.

4. Phone & DND

Apple has made some changes in the Phone app in iOS6. Now when you decline an incoming call on iPhone, you can instantly reply with a text message or set a call-back reminder. With iOS 6, you will also be able to turn on Do Not Disturb to suppress all incoming calls and notifications except for the VIP contacts. This feature is a personal favorite of mine, and I'm so glad it's built into iOS 6.

For example, you can set up Do Not Disturb so that it automatically starts working between 11 PM and 6 AM every day and during this time your device won't give you any notifications. In other words you can get a good night's sleep, even if all your friends are sending you FarmVille requests.

Do Not Disturb can even block calls if you'd like it to, or you can tell it to allow calls only from your favorites, or certain groups of people.

5. Facebook Integration

Similar to the Twitter integration in iOS, Apple also Facebook in iOS 6. With this integration in place, you will be able share a photo to Facebook right from the camera app or post your location directly from maps. Facebook integration allows you to post messages, videos, photos, web pages, maps, and more on your favorite social network from a number of iOS apps, including Safari, Maps, Photos, iTunes, Notification Center, and more.

You will need to sign into Facebook only once and then you can use these features and more from any app without signing in again.

6. Shared Photo Streams

If you're not into Facebook or Twitter, but you'd like to share photos with your friends then with shared photo streams, you can selectively share photos with many people. All you have to do is select photos from the Photos app, tap the Share button, choose the people with whom you want to share these photos and you are done. If your friends and family are using Photos app or iPhoto, they will get the shared photos instantly in the apps, while the non-iOS/ Mac device users will be able to see them on the web.

It allows you to create new Photo Streams that you can share with your friends and family. The album will then appear in their own Photo Stream on their Mac and iOS devices, or they can be viewed in a web browser on any PC.

The great thing about Shared Photo Streams is that just like on Facebook, your friends can "like" you images, and leave comments.

7. Mail improvements with VIP Inbox

Apple made a number of improvements to its Mail app in iOS 6, but the VIP inbox is the best one. Have you ever missed an important email because it got buried under all the junk you receive each and every day? It's happened to all of us, but the VIP inbox can prevent it.

You can now designate certain contacts as VIPs and choose to be notified when they send email, even when email notifications are off. The VIP lists are cloud-enabled, so your boss or mom will still be VIP no matter which iCloud-enabled device you are using. Also included is swipe to refresh and an improved way to add videos or photos to email messages.

8. Panoramic Camera

iOS 6 users using iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, or iPod touch (5th gen.) will benefit from the all new camera app that adds a panorama view. The built-in camera app is now capable of taking panoramic images, and it's pretty darn good at it, too. All you have to do is "sweep" your device across your object, and it will. Until now you had to use third-party apps to get panoramic photos, but now with one simple motion you can shoot up to 240 degrees of view and watch the software weave its magic.

9. Safari & iCloud Tabs

Apple has further enhanced the web browsing experience on iOS devices with iOS 6. A new feature called iCloud Tab keeps track of which web pages you have open on your devices, so even you if switch devices, you can just pick up from where you left on the other device. Safari can also save the full web pages now for reading later or offline access. The full-screen support is finally present; all you have to do is turn your iOS device in landscape mode and just tap the full-screen button.

Safari also gets the ability to upload photos via a form. You can now sync all the tabs you have open in Safari across your Mac devices. So if you open up an article on your Mac at home, but you don't have time to finish it before you leave, you'll find the same tab on your iOS device so that you can catch up later. Simply look for the iCloud button alongside the address bar in mobile Safari.

10. FaceTime over cellular & iMessage

Along with Wi-Fi networks, you can also use FaceTime over cellular networks now. You can also make and receive FaceTime calls on your iPad using your phone number.

In iOS 6, iMessage rolls all your email addresses and phone numbers into one, so no matter which one your friends contact you on, you'll receive the message on all your devices.
