In my previous articles, I talked about Windows Server Backup feature installation process, using PowerShell and Server Manager. In this article, I will show you how to configure Windows Server Backup in your Windows Server 2016.
Open Server Manager —> Click Tools —> Windows Server Backup.

It will open up Wbadmin wizard, where you actually configure your Server backups.

Click Local Backup and you will see a warning message, which indicates that no backup has been configured on this computer.

There are three options here. You can select Backup Schedule or Backup Once or Recover and Schedule Backup. I will select backup schedule.

Once you select the Backup option and click it; it will immediately open Backup Schedule Wizard and you can see all the configuration steps on the left pane.

You can schedule two types of Configuration: Full Server and Custom. I will select Full Server ( recommended) and click Next.

You can Schedule backup, once a day or more than once a day. As you can see in the screenshot give above, I scheduled my Server back up once a day at 8 pm.

After specifying the backup schedule time, you need to specify the destination; where you want to store these backups. I will select Backup to a Shared network folder here. As soon as I select shared network folder as my backup destination, it gives me a warning message, which says each back up will erase the previous backups, so I will only have the latest backup and I will click OK.

After clicking OK, it will ask you to specify the Remote Shared Folder location, specify the location click Next.

Once you click Next, it will ask for the username and password of the user, who has an access to this shared folder. Once you enter username and password, you will see a Confirmation Summary of your backup schedule. Click Backup. You successfully did a backup of Windows Server.
