Here, you can have your site collection backup configured files for various purposes, for example, to save a copy or to restore it to another server. Here, you can configure the Central Admin to take a backup of a site collection and store it at your defined location.
How to perform?
Let’s open Central Admin of SharePoint on your machine. On your Windows desktop screen, click Start >> Administrative Tools >> SharePoint 2013 Central Administration.
- Run it as an administrator to have elevated privileges.
- You will see the screenshot given below.
- Central Admin is configured under the categories given above.
- Click Backup and Restore.
- Go to Granular Backup.
- Click Perform a site collection backup.
- You will see the screen below. Click it.
Configure
- Site Collection
Specify a site collection for which you want to take a backup on the Central Administration.
- File Location
Provide a path to restore the backup. Check in the Overwrite existing file button, if you want to overwrite it.
Once the configuration is done, click Start Backup.
The backup configuration will be configured and the backup will be done on your defined location.
