Before installing, you must install SQL and add an active directory role, so that you can create a separate user to run SharePoint and SQL.
I have already configured SQL and installed SharePoint 2016.
Let's get started,
- Install the Pre-requisites. On SharePoint ISO, click Pre-requisite installer and if you are connected with the internet, it will automatically download and install all the required prerequisites.
- Wait while prerequisites are getting installed.
- As we can see all the prerequisites have been installed, click Finish your machine and it will restart.
- After restarting the machine, we will run SharePoint Set-up. It will ask for Product key.
I have Trial key for 180 days (NQGJR-63HC8-XCRQH-MYVCH-3J3QR). Enter it and click Continue.
- Installation will take some time to complete.
- Once the installation completes, select Run SharePoint Product Configuration Wizard and click Close.
- SharePoint Product Configuration Wizard will open. Click Next.
- Click Yes.
- As you are creating a new Server Farm, select Create a New Server Farm and click Next.
- Enter your Ddatabase Server name and database access account. Click Next.
- Enter Passphrase and remember it because we have to use it on each Server, which joins our Farm.
- Best thing in SharePoint 2016 is MinRole. You can select your Server role. I have selected an Application Server role. You can select, as per your requirement.
- You can change the port number, if you want. I preferred to keep it default and clicked Next.
- Double check your setting and click Next.
- Now, we have to wait while SharePoint 2016 is getting configured.
- After completion of the configuration, it will open the page given below. Click Cancel.
- Now, your SharePoint 2016 is installed and waiting for you to explore and play with it.
I hope this article will help you with SharePoint 2016 installation.
