Uploading Your App Packages To Windows Dev Center - Part Two

Introduction

This article will help you upload the app packages which we created for the app we developed in my previous article demos.

Developer Requirements

  1. Windows Dev account.

Follow the below steps now

Step 1

Log in to the Windows Dev Center.

Here comes the home page of your Windows Dev Center. Click on Sign in at the top right corner of the Dev Center page.

Here, sign in with your Windows Dev Account.

Step 2

Click on Dashboard of Windows Dev Center.

Here, you can find the name of the app that we have registered already at Visual Studio 2015 namely “simplepicflip”.

Step 3

Click on “Start your submission” over here.

Step 4

The submission one will be dealing with the following things.

  • Pricing and availability
  • Properties
  • Age ratings
  • Packages
  • Store Listings
  • Notes for clarification

Let's hop in with “Pricing and Availability” now. So, click on “Pricing and availability”.

Pricing and Availability

This tier will help you define your app either it is a free of cost one or it's going to be a paid one as such. It also deals with the free trial and full version of the app.

Sale Pricing

This helps us to set limited time price reductions for your app. This sale will only be visible to customers on Windows 10 devices.

The default setting is "Make this app available in the Store." This means that your app will be listed in the Store for customers to find via the app's direct link and/or by other methods, including searching, browsing, and inclusion in curated lists.

Step 5

Under Base Price, select “Free” if you wish to give the app at free of cost.

At free trial, select no free trial. If not, you can select the period for free trial.

Markets and Custom Prices

It allows you to select the markets and custom prices of the country in which this app will be available for download. Prices will be converted for each market into corresponding price tiers.

Distribution and visibility

The "Distribution and visibility" section allows you to set restrictions on how your app can be discovered and acquired.

This will let you hide the app for people whom you mention over here. By default, you can make the app available for everyone.

Organizational licensing

By default, your app may be offered to organizations to purchase in volume. You can indicate whether and how your app can be offered in this section.

Publish Date

You can indicate when your app (or update) will be published by choosing an option in the Publish date section. You can also mention a particular date when the app can be published or even to publish it manually.

Click on “Save” now.

Now, you can find the “pricing and availability” status to be completed.

Step 6

Click on Properties now.

Pick a category over here.

You can also pick a sub-category over here.

You should fill out the system requirements, product declarations, followed by a click on Save button.

Now, you can find the Properties pane as completed.

Step 7

Click on Age Ratings now.

To publish an app in the Windows Store, you must provide accurate answers to the questions below and receive age ratings.

Rating questionnaire

You should mention which of the below questions given at the page would best describe your app.

Please note, when answering the questions about your app, metadata should be considered. You should mention answers for the following questionnaires.

You should mention if the app contains violent material. 

Please note that this question does not refer to user generated content.

Sexuality

You should mention, Can the app contain sexual material or nudity (except in a natural or scientific setting)?

Please note that this question does not refer to user generated content.

Controlled Substance

You should mention, Can the app contain references to or depictions of illegal drugs?

Language

You should mention, Can the app contain any potentially offensive language?

Miscellaneous

Does the app natively allow users to interact or exchange content with other users through voice communication, text, or sharing images or audio?

Does the app share user-provided personal information with third parties?

Does the app share the user's current physical location to other users?

Does the app allow users to purchase digital goods?

Click on “Save and Generate” now.

Microsoft will apply age ratings for your app now. Click on Continue for the next window.

Now, you can find the following module status as completed.

Step 8

Click on Packages now.

Note

If you are using Visual Studio, be sure that you signed in with the same account associated with your developer account, as some parts of the package are specific to this account.

Here, select the package that we developed by the previous demo and upload it over here.

Select the device for which the package has been uploaded, and click on Save.

Step 9

Click on Manage Store Listing Languages and select store listing languages over here, followed by a click on Save button.

Step 10

Finally, write Notes for certification, these notes will help the testers to test the app and this will be passed to the store.

Click on “Submit to Store” at last.
