India has developed the world's cheapest laptop with touch screen feature for less than $35. Developed at India's leading institution, IIT, the laptop is developed for schools and students. The Laptop is equipped with a web browser, PDF reader and other necessary software.

Linux based computing device is expected to be introduced to higher education institutions from 2011 but the aim was to drop the price further to $20 and ultimately to $10.
