Cloud – Are we asking for a trouble?

Cloud – Are we asking for a major trouble?

Do you remember recent electricity crisis led several Indian states in the dark for several days? Do you ever wonder why that happened? Answer is simple. The northern grid that connects several states failed.

Do you remember recent Amazon cloud service failed that let down several major websites for hours including twitter?

In a recent interview, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has said he expects horrible problems to crop up in the next five years as cloud-based computing takes hold. "I really worry about everything going to the cloud. I think it's going to be horrendous. I think there are going to be a lot of horrible problems in the next five years," Wozniak said.

"With the cloud, you don't own anything. You already signed it away through the legalistic terms of service with a cloud provider that computer users must agree to," News.com.au quoted Wozniak, as saying.

I agree with Steve here. This is what happens when you rely on just a few sources and have no control over it. This is what it may lead us to someday if everything is stored in the cloud. We will have no control over our data.

Today, if I do not have Internet, I find myself handicapped. I can't even work. All resources are on the Web.
