Recently, when I tried to login to SharePoint / Office 365 Home, it continued to prompt for the credentials. In my case, whenever I login to the SharePoint portal, the company logo in the suite bar and yammer embedded webpart kept asking for the password. I didn’t understand what went wrong because I was able to login without such continuous prompts earlier.
So, I tried clearing browser cache, and restarted my computer but nothing helped. However, in my mobile, I could see yammer embedded webpart and company logo loaded in the SharePoint perfectly. So, there must have been something wrong with my PC.
Finally, I diagnosed the issue. Looks like when you enter bad credentials, it gets saved and never gets updated even when you enter the correct credentials the next time.
Here is what I did.
Got to Control Panel >> User Accounts >> Manage Your Credentials >> Windows Credentials.
You should see an entry for adfs.<tenant>.com
Do either of the following -
- Edit credentials and provide correct username and password.
- Remove credentials. The next time you login to Office 365, check "Remember my credentials". This will add the new credentials to the Windows credentials.
Hope this helped you.
