MVP Summit 2010 - Day 1 Updates

Morning

So far experience has not been that good. In compare to last year, it is bad.

  1.    Accommodation is not good. You need to share a room with another MVP.
  2.    Food is really bad. Thank god there are fruits.
  3.    Sessions are spread out and its all confusing. There is no one place where you can find all information. It took Mike and I couple of hours to just figure out the registration and where Silveright sessions are.
Afternoon

Afternoon sessions are getting better. After finishing my Silverlight session, now I have been to two WPF sessions and both went well. There has been lot of talk about Silverlight and it is taking over the development. SL4 seems very promising. Noticed quite a few new features and WebCam Control is one of them.

Windows Forms and ASP.NET are definitely getting less attention. I would be worried if I was a Windows Forms or ASP.NET developer.

First session, David talked about various fixes in graphics system of WPF 4.0 and there are some improvements.

Second session, Kate Stone, Architect, WPF talked about various mistakes we make when programming WPF including layout system, threading, setting properties, data binding, and other topics.

Snoop, memory profiling tool and other useful tools were mentioned.

Here are some of the cool and useful tools you may want to try right away. All top guys at Microsoft use them.
