Azure Mobile Services support the following two platforms for the backend:
- .NET backend
- JavaScript backend
I worked with JavaScript backend many times but it was my first attempt with .NET backend. So while creating an Azure Mobile Service, I selected the .NET platform as the backend. To my surprise there is no Data tab available when you choose the .NET backend.
The reason for that is, if you choose the .NET backend then data access becomes part of the .NET project and should be deployed from there. And in JavaScript the backend Data tab would be visible in the portal and scripts can run at the portal.
