WPF Platform and Tooling Improvements

Based on the survey and interviews with WPF developers, Microsoft has been working on improvements in the upcoming releases of Visual Studio 2015.
 
Some of the areas looked upon are: 
  • Performance issue like application startup, scrolling and virtualization performance of ItemsControls has been dealt with.
  • WPF applications to interoperate with newer versions of DirectX.
  • WPF applications can adapt to new hardware capabilities coming to desktop machines.
Fixes in .NET Framework 4.6: 
  • Multi-image cursor file support in System.Windows.Input.Cursor
  • Support for transparent child windows.
  • Improved double tap gesture recognition by using common threshold distance from registry.
  • Improved text selection through double tapping the WPF TextBox control.
  • Improved reliability of stylus input for the WPF ComboBox control.
UI debugger for WPF applications - Microsoft is building a new debugging tools for WPF applications.
 
 
 
Diagnostics tool for WPF applications – Based on survey, problems like slow application startup, poor frame rate and other common performance issues will be addressed with the new diagnostics tool.
 
 
 
 
 
Blend for Visual Studio 2015 – Microsoft is working on shortcoming in previous versions of Blend to make it the preferred tool for WPF application development.
