Accessor Problem!

i got this routine from Bhagvan Chougule (Thanks) and i need to convert from VB to C#. I dont know how because i never saw before a accessor routine with parameters in C#. The VB code: Public Property Field(ByVal strFieldName As String Optional ByVal rowNum As Integer = 0) get Return objDataTable(tableNum -1).Rows(rowNum) (strFieldName) End Get Set (ByVal Value) objDataTable(tableNum -1).Rows(rowNum) (strFieldName) = Value End Set End Property and i convert it to : public string Field (string strFieldName int rowNum) { get { return objDataTable(tableNum-1).Rows(rowNum)(strFieldName); } set { objDataTable(tableNum-1).Rows(rowNum)(strFieldName) = value; } } but i have an error on the get and the set asking for ; Help this newbie!

okay where do tableNum and objDataTable come from? public string this[string strFieldName int rowNum] { get { return objDataTable[tableNum].Rows[rowNum][strFieldName]; } set { objDataTable[tableNum].Rows[rowNum][strFieldName] = value; } } try this code it's an indexer that is the closest thing I have found to a property that can take parameters in C#.

thanks mike! Let me explain the whole problem: i have the user control routine drafted in vb. I dont know nothing about VB. (neither C# of course but if i need a language i choose c#). I want to make a project in c# and when i try to use the control (drafted in vb) i cannot do it. When i add the ascx file to my project the project ask for a .cs file but i only have a vb file. There is a way to use a ascx with vb into a c# project? thanks in advance!

As far as I know you can't pass parameters to properties in C#. What you'll need to do is probably have fields in your class such as CurrentRowNumber and CurrentFieldName.
