changing connection string dynamicallly

Question

Dear all i have connection with one server...in certain condition i want t0 change server so need to change connection string by closing first one and after performing task of another server again close that one and start old one ///

Do you have any better approach to do this

If you're using SQL Server then opening closing and reopening connections doesn't take as long as you'd think because of the connection pooling mechanism used in the background. Normally when you open a connection you're allocated one of the active connections in the pool rather than a completely new one. When a connection is closed it's simply returned to the pool. Also separate pools are maintained for each connection string. Having said that it might improve performance marginally if you create and keep open a separate connection to each server though I wouldn't do this if one of the connections will remain unused for a period of time.
