confusion at fresher level

Question

hi. am a fresher.. just completed my M.C.A in may 2013.. i did my project in .net windows workflow technology.. now i joined in a small owner based company with 1 year contract.. they developed project in .Net technology.. is this 1 year experience is enough for me to try for big companies or i need to study some technologies??? am totally confused.. please guide me..

Hi I understand your confusion but it is very tough to get job in same area as fresher level. I would suggest to join your offered company and keep in touch with latest technology in your free time. You will definitely get work in your desire technology in future. IT industry is very vast. Regarding study it is depend on company to company policy. Hello Chandran Please try to be expert on a particular domain. If you are working on asp.net then you should be expert in C# asp.net frame work. And try to be stron in MS SQL Server. It is the heart of Software Development. Please try to learn more in the small comapny. Big company hires on the basis of lateral entry. So they demands more than 2 years of experience. Now a days it is MCSD . @Iswarya: As I said in previous reply starting with small company will not hamper so much as you are bothered now. Your first priority should be to start your career. If you get a chance to start with bigger companies then it is good in terms of package etc. If you start with small companies you will learn a lot there!! Most of people do start their career with a small company of 4-5 people size. Just focus on grasping the technology and you will find yourself in better position to be a part of bigger enterprises.

@Anil Sir. my worry is not about small company.. but after 1 or 2 years exp when i put that company in my cv means is it valuable.. rather they neglect it as a small company..

@Keyur patel sir still am confused.. i did my project in workflow technology but here in work we worked in windows and web application.. there is no chance to recall workflow technology.. if i study it side by side is it affect my working in company??

Hi I would suggest to join with your on hand offered company. Make sure  project and work. Project and work is very important for your future. I think you also did your last semester project in Windows workflow and .Net. It is really good to got chance to worked on that technology. Now come back with your question you can also study some technologies on your free time. Try to pass some certification with your work. This would be your added advantage in your career profile. One year exposure to IT programming arena is not enough but it will definitely build a good platform for better opportunities. Generally peoples took 1 years to understand the real world of programming with tools and techniques. They conceptualize the understandings. Next 1 year the took to enhance their skills. If you want to go on faster track you need to work hard. Start learning new trending technologies side by side. B ut be careful as it shouldn't hamper your ongoing first job.
