Consuming Assemblies from GAC

Question

Hi I have created an assembly Sample.dll and registered the same in the GAC with Strong Name. Should I need to add a reference to the project inorder to consume this assembly (Sample.dll). If we need to add a reference to an assembly registered in GAC then what is the advantage of GAC. There should be some way to consume an assembly registered in GAC. I also tried adding reference in the aspx page as follows: Someone help me with an simple example to consume (Invoke method from the assembly) an assembly registered in GAC. Regards Senthilkumar.T

The best way of accessing assemblies placed in GAC would be adding the following config entries in application config file. You can find the assembly information typically in c:\windows\assembly folder. P.S: Adding reference to the dll can be done without placing the assembly into GAC also.
