Custom roles and membership[Authorization concept]

Question

Hi I do not want to use the login controls asp.net provides.. I want to create my custom user controls for loginregistration etc.. How to authorize a person ? How is it done after the user has registered.. I do not know more about roles and how to set them.. read some stuff from site googled and checked this site also but did not understand

@Dorebabu Plzz can u explain more.. Completely dont know about roles and membership.. And why are roles and membership used? How to use and where to set.. Another question is.. All sites allow users to register and authenticate.. In some sites after making payment they are allowed to download like RAPIDSHARE etc.. How do they authorize users? Can someone give example to understand this concept plzz

create a table with roles and assign ID for those while you are logging in check out for role and restrict if not proper user
