I am using File upload control in asp.net but i dont select any File so i face Error... string str = FileUpload1.FileName; FileUpload1.PostedFile.SaveAs(Server.MapPath(~/Upload/ + str)); string Image = ~/Upload/ + str.ToString(); }

You need to validate before request goes to server: Using javascript: if(document.getElementById(FileUpload1).value != ) { // you have a file } Using jQuery: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#button').click(function(){ if($('#FileUpload1').val()==) { alert(no file selected!); return false; } }); }); Using rquire field validator: runat=server ErrorMessage=your own error message ControlToValidate=FileUpload1> In server side code: if(FileUpload1.HasFile) { string str = FileUpload1.FileName; FileUpload1.PostedFile.SaveAs(Server.MapPath(~/Upload/ + str)); string Image = ~/Upload/ + str.ToString(); }
