how create androi app with xamarin using xaml ???

Question

I would like to create an app with visual studio for android using xaml for design.

I saw that with xamarin it is possible to create a new cross platform project.

is it possible for an android-only project?

I'm pretty handy with wpf and would like to program for android without getting away from my knowledge
