How to get the values of Textbox

Question

Dear I have a gridview and i am editing the records on gridview rowediting and using the row updating to update the record I have a problem i am getting the values of textbox in gridview row updating and here i am saving this value in to a variable but when i am using that variable into another function it becomes empty this variable is global variable please reply
