making progress bar in current app HELP!!!!!

Question

I really need help here I have never coded before in my life I actually just started this whole programming thing last night and chose C# as my code writer. I made a notepad fully functional but I want to add a progress bar so when people open big files with this they will see a bar showing the progress of the files being opened. Anyone want to share with me how to do this? it would help a lot.
