Message alert at client side

Question

I want to set an alert service for my website users for there tasks. These alerts are like Messenger alerts. My web site is in asp.net C#. Here is the scenario I want to set for alerts: I retrieve the alert messages for users through a webservice and I want utility which displays alerts for users at client site. Can anyone help me to sort out the problem?

Actually this is a utility. It starts work as soon as user log to website. Here is the scenario: 1. User Logged-in 2. Started a thread 3. He got a response from thread Alert message : You got a response ... 4. User logged of and meanwhile if got thread response Alert message : You got 3 responses when were offline This all happened at back-end.

That is fine. I like to know inside which event handler you are getting the message. I like to see your code snippet to give you proper solution.

No actually webservice return Dataset for logged user and then after according to record we have to display alert messages

Are you retrieving the alert message from webservice in pageload???
