New Sql Server 2008 Express - Server Name

Question

Good morning all. I bought a new laptop and am going through the process of getting my software re-installed. I have downloaded and installed Sql Server 2008 express (with tools). I am now trying to conncet but do not have, nor do not know how to find the "Server Name". How can I find it?

Hi I can provide below informations. Make sure you installed Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Management Studio Express. It's a free tool from Microsoft for configuring sql express. Normally sql express is installing with Windows authentication and server name would be machinename>>\SQLEXPRESS. For e.g. my instance is JMATHEWS4-1\SQLEXPRESS. JMATHEWS4-1 is my machine name If you haev VS go to ServerExplore from View menu. Then try to connect to your sql express by right click and AddConnection.
