Online Seat Booking .how to select Seat in booking

I am creating some online web application . now what i need is  basically i am confused what to use in place of selecting seats i.e which control i need to use as SEAT.Here am creating One table below. Id RouteId A1 A2 A3 A5 A6 A7 A8 A9 A10 A11 A12 A13 A14 A15 A16 A17 A18 A19 5 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 I created table like this based on Admin enter seats the zero is added to the column values. Ex:noOfseat:40 means first columns filled with zero .

Hi thanks For reply First thing: If i have a travels i have to allot bus .(for ex: Chennai to Banglore date:000;Seat:40) .So the seating capacity is 40.based n the 40 the values is autofilled .Is this wrongCan u pls give some new idea to design my table.

What is the issue you are facing here? The seats are not displayed properly? The seat selection is not happening? The seat selection data is not submitting to the server? Did you figure out how to store the value of selected seats using javascript so that you can submit it to the server? HI Vasanth I understood what you are trying to achieve. But the approach and desing you are using are quite complex and fragile. It is also not expandable. What if there comes a bus with more than 40 seats. You will have to go and change your database and add new columns to the table. In production environment such changes are very risky. You also can not have different seat numbers such as B1 B2 etc. Anyways if it's not too late for you I would suggest to have your implementation the way I recommended. I it's not possible to change the approach you are not depending on generating dynamic SQL query. You can create SQL query in a string variable in C# and pass it to command to execute. hi chetan Now in c# i have a gridview control inside gridview i have a datalist control.In Gridview i have a button called(VIEW SEATS).When we click the view seat button the datalist i diplayed. How to bind the datalist by column name. For Ex: A1 A2 A3 0 0 In this 3seats as shown in sql table .But the bus contain only 2Seats. So i want to bind the A1 and A2 not by values .bind the column name where values is not null.

Thanks Chetan But Thats Not my issue.The issue is i created a table columns are A1a2a3a4......etc. When the admin enter the seat count as 35 means the column a1 to a35 is filled with zero.So in c# when we click the View seats button it will show the seats based the sql table.. Now my question is how to design the seats with button . When the user click the button and he is going to book the seat the particular column value is changed to 1. For Ex:If am a user i click the A25 seat means The seat number Of A25 is changed from 0 to 1. Now u clear about my issues????

You can do one thing like go to Abhibus.com or Redbus.com you can inspect that pages by clicking F12 and you may come to know which control they used for their Seatings . Hope this helps

Hi Vasanth Following are the tables I can think of for your application. Bus - BusId (PrimaryKey) - Reg Number - (Some other columns) Seat - SeatId (PrimaryKey) - BusId - SeatNumber - (Some other columns) Route - RouteId (PrimaryKey) - FromStation - ToStation - (Some other columns) Trip - TripId (PrimaryKey) - RouteId - BusId - StartTime - (Some other columns) SeatBooking - Id (PrimaryKey) - TripId - SeatId - IsBooked - BookedTime - PassengerName - (Some other columns) For every trip a new row should be added in the Trip Table and also rows to be added in SeatBooking table. In SeatBooking table SeatId will be refered from table Seat by querying it with the BusId associated with the TripId. To display in the UI you will have to JOIN SeatBooking Table and Seat Table based on SeatId for the TripId and get the SeatNumber from the Seat table. SELECT SB.Id SB.SeatId S.SeatNumber SB.IsBooked FROM SeatBooking SB JOIN Seat S ON S.SeatId = SB.SeatId WHERE SB.TripId = @tripId Initially all the Rows in SeatBooking table for a TripId will have IsBooked = false.
