Opening and Saving Mdi child forms

Question

I am looking to save the current child form and be able to open the child form. It is like a simple text editor like notepad. I also need to add controls to the child forms for saving. I also want to display the file name in the title bar of the opened document.

I think it is better to ask how to do one thing at a time. Many times questions are asked about a program but there are many things that need to be done for the program. I think many of us are reluctant to answer questions about how to write a program since there is so much to do to answer the question. It is extemely easy for the person asking the question to describe the program then ask how to do it all. It will really help to get answers if you can be specific about what you need help with. Look at it this way; are you asking others to volunteer their time to spend much more time helping you than you have spent asking the question? I don't understand what is meant by saving and opening a form. The best I can think of is that forms are opened by showing the form as in Form.Show(). It is interesting to me that in C++ using MFC (it's a C++ thing but cannot be used without C++) projects were created with code that already did most of this (as in my Simple CEditView Application ). I suspect that there is a way to generate a C# program that does most of this but I have not looked for it. Are you sure you have looked at all the relevant articles in this web site?

You can use a plain TextBox if you only need plain text. A RichTextBox is for formatted text. You can use a RichTextBox for plain text but it is not required. Perhaps you just need to know to set the Multiline property to true. Without that a TextBox control uses only one line. Then the next trick is to go to the Dock property of the TextBox and set it to the big box in the middle. I know you don't understand what I mean by big box in the middle but trust me; if you click on the Dock property you will understand. That is an easy way to make a control fill an entire form.

Not from a button but a menu strip control. I need to figure out how to make the entire form text first. I think it has something to do with a rich text box.

I still have not found any information on what I am looking for. There has been no leads to how I want to resolve this. I will just try for one part if anyone can help. I want to save the child form from the parent form in my Mdi application I am not using buttons but a menu strip.

I am just looking to develop the code for saving the child forms. Also the opening of the saved forms. There are no errors. I am using the menu strip to do this from the parent form.
