Out of box Survey Rating Scale issue

I have created a survey using out of box feature in sharepoint 2010. For a rating scale question i need to have ratings from 0 to 5 and not the default 1 to 6. I made use of javascript code and managed to change the ratings but only on the front end. Internally the values get stored as 1 to 6 only. How to change this internal setting?

In the list settings select the rating column where you have the option number range select that to 4. Then you will have only five values.
