Prevent more useres from edit same record in same time probl

Question

I have proplem i have table employee with fields EmployeeID,EmployeeName,Telephone

In my company more one user can edit in same record in same time

How to allow only one user to edit record and another user when edit same record

get message the record edit now by another user

Because this make conflict between each otheres

if possible help me

what i can do to prevent this proplem

my database sql server 2005,visual studio 2008

means you want to allow another user to update only after some given time??????

Thank you for reply suppose i need to make update the employee as following CREATE PROC UPDATE_EMPLOYEE ( @EmployeeID INT @EmployeeName NVARCHAR(50) ) AS update Employee set EmployeeName=@EmployeeName where EmployeeID=@EmployeeID Suppose I have two useres AB A modified or edit using stored procedure above employee no 5000 field EmployeeName B need to modify employee no 5000 using stored procedure above field EmployeeName i need to prevent user B To modify same record using time stamp How to do that from c# code and sql server and what modification in stored procedure to accept timestamp EmployeeTable EmployeeID EmployeeName TimeStampEmp

add a column with created or updated date in your table and display updated date with your data in frontend so that user can see the updated date or time and avoid to update that record again another is you can add updatedby column and insert the userid of user who update the record
