Retain data in a gridview on Page Reload

Question

I have a gridview and its populated from a datatable. I have used Viewstate to hold the data.

Now if I redirect to a new page from this page and again come back to this page, all my datas are lost and the gridview, datatable, viewstate is showing empty.

How can I retain the previous table inspite of page reload?

By default the GridView selects a row based on Index. Try instructing the GridView to select rows based on Keys. Set the EnablePersistedSelection property to true so that the row selection is based on data-key values. Now if your earlier selected row gets its index or position changed in any way it will remain selected.

Hi You have to use Session for that purpose. Viewstate value will be lost once you move from one page to another. You can use session instead. Please check below thread - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2288299/storing-and-retrieving-datatable-from-session
