searching in database

Question

i have a table named fname (say). this table has two fields named date and student roll. i need to search all the roll numbers corresponding to a date. suppose i have five roll number entry corresponding to date 10/24/2010. i need to accumulate all the roll numbers in a gridview at once. how can i do it? please give me some suggestions. thanks in advance

Also note that there are two parts to this question. One part is the SQL and the other part is the code for executing the SQL. There are many tools you can use to help you create the SQL. You can alos find very many articles and books about SQL and most of what you learn about SQL can be used many times in the future and in many systems and languages and many ways. People are reluctant helping with things like SQL since there are so many resources available that can help much better than the help that can be provided here. Another part is how to execute the SQL and there are many ways to do that. There are also many resources availalbe to learn from. If you spend some time leaning and then have more specific questions then you are more likely to get more specific answers.

Thank you Nair jee i have read some of recommended articles as you suggested but i cant solve my prob. can you suggest me specific code or that kinda something. i should have mentioned two things one is i am trying to develop a windows form application and second is there is no primary key in my database because date cannot be the primary key as there is same value for many entries and secondly i need the roll number so i cant search based on roll number. can you give me more suggestion. thank you in advance.
