Software Engineer (.NET)

Question

What are the minimum requirements to be a .NET Software Engineer? Actually I wanna be a Software Engineer (.NET). I would like to cover these topics - (C#, ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, XML) as a beginner. What is your suggestion about it? Should I learn more? How can I develop my skill in this field? Your advice are welcomed :)

Mahesh an engineer is someone with a degree. Usually the term Software Engineer is used whether a degree exists or not but there are some instances where a Software Engineer must have a degree in something relevant to software development. Rashed be sure to get educated in system design and analysis. You probably will want to have some management training. If you can get a job that is highly technical and advanced such as writing a compiler then management will be less important but management can give you an advantage that your competition might not have. Most of us want work that is more glamorous than maintenance programming. There is however likely to be more opportunity for programmers willing to do maintenace. As far as I know universities do not prepare students for doing maintenance. I think however that all system analysts need to be experienced with maintenance otherwise they will likely design software that is more expensive to develp use (get good performance) and maintain. Yet with an education that includes system analysis and management you might be able to get work managing development projects. I know of at least three companies that have lost a lot of money (probably millions) by trying to save money by using inexperienced staff but the point is that companies are more likely to give beginners a better job if the applicant has system analysis and management training.

I am a CS undergraduate student. I have completed half of my courses in university (6 semester out of 12). I wanna build up my career as a Software Engineer within 4 years. I know C/C++ C# JAVA HTML CSS JavaScript PHP ASP.NET (very little not an expert). I would like to see myself working as a Software Engineer after 4 years. What are your suggestions about it? Which professional courses will help me to build up my career? Please help me. Thank you :)

What are you now? A software engineer is nothing but a more experienced programmer :). It all depends on a company how they designate a programmer developer software engineer analyst.
