trouble with my calender form

Question

Hi i am new to c# and i am trying to develop a form to display the calander which works fine. I am trying to make it so that when the user selects any date from my MonthCalander control it is then displayed in a messasge box. The trouble i'm having is that it no matter which date i select it displays by default todays date(the current todays date). From your post you are not calling the the code in submitbtn_Click event that is why you are always getting the default value that is todays date. private void submitbtn_Click(object sender EventArgs e) { startDate = monthCalendar1.SelectionStart.ToString(); MessageBox.Show(start date is:  + startDate.ToShortDateString()); this.Close(); }

Madhu K thanks for the assist it does work but what i would like to know is when i store that in a variable ie. startDate = monthCalendar1.SelectionStart.ToString(); and output it in using Messagebox.show(date was  + start date); it simply shows todays date and not the date selected why? I only ask because i want to understand the reason.
