Visual Studio C# License

Question

Hello I'd like to buy Visual Studio or C# but i don't have that much money...what should i do? I mean there is a cheaper or free way to program in c# and sell those programs? I'm confused here because i hear that the compiler is free but to program in c# you have to buy it and pay a license fee? Somebody please can explain this?

As Mike suggested you can get Visual Studio Express versions from msdn.microsoft.com site for free and they are as good as Visual Studio.
