In a recent statement, Apple has declared that it is switching the default search provider of the Siri web searches, Search inside iOS, and spotlight on the Mac, from Bing to Google Search.
The feature has started rolling out already. Now, the search results in Siri, iOS search bar, and Mac Spotlight will be coming from Google Search instead of Bing search. However, the Web image results in Siri search will still come from Bing as it is considered better in providing the better image results. The reason behind this switching is said to be “Consistency” not quality though because some of other Apple services already use Google Search as default search provider.
According to a statement sent to TechCrunch by Apple, the company states,
“Switching to Google as the web search provider for Siri, Search within iOS and Spotlight on Mac will allow these services to have a consistent web search experience with the default in Safari. We have strong relationships with Google and Microsoft and remain committed to delivering the best user experience possible.”
Well, it seems that the love of Apple towards Google has reached new heights and Microsoft is going out of the game if it does not work harder on improving the Bing Search Service.
