ASUS Launches Tinker Board In Competition With Raspberry Pi 3

ASUS has recently launched a single-board computer which has directly been aimed at makers and developers along with other hobbyists. This single-board computer is known as the ASUS Tinker Board, and at first glance, it will remind you of the Raspberry Pi device.

However, the ASUS Tinker Board comes with a faster processor and better memory as compared to Raspberry Pi 3. This device also supports 4K video, Gigabit Ethernet, and 192 kHz/24-bit audio.
 
The Tinker Board is now available in UK and Europe for $60 (exclusive of taxes).
 
The ASUS Tinker Board comes with the following features:
  • Quad core 1.8GHz ARM Cortex-A17 CPU
  • 2GB Dual channel LPDDR3 memory
  • Gigabit LAN and Bluetooth 4.0 + EDR connectivity
  • 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi
  • 4x USB 2.0 ports
  • 40-pin Internal header with 28 GPIO pins
  • Contact points for PWM and S/PDIF signals
  • 1x 3.5mm Audio jack connection
  • CSI port for camera connection
  • DSI port supporting HD resolution
  • 1x HDMI 2.0 port to support 4K resolution
  • Micro SD port supports UHS-I
  • Supports Debian OS with KODI
  • Power supply: 5V/ 2A Micro USB (not included)
ASUS also informs its users that Tinker Board supports Debian Linux. Now, it remains to be seen if this board will go on to attract developers and users in a similar manner which the Raspberry Pi products do.
